Tucked away in a secluded area on Bodakdev road, OPTIONS store seems more like a home. Step inside and you feel cut off from the rest of the world. Mud plastered walls, water feeder for birds, pebbled grounds and stone slabs laid out as pathway invite you in. The natural ambience at OPTIONS comprises lush green foliage and huge rocks. It’s amazing how such an ambience exists in the midst of a buzzing city like Ahmedabad. There’s an eco- friendly spirit everywhere, perhaps in sync with its collection. The two-storied standalone store has its wares beautifully displayed in contemporary wooden racks and tables, well-spaced out to allow you to move around with freedom.
This unique store is the intersection of various exclusive products and design brands ranging from apparels, to accessories, to textiles, to furniture, to lights, offering an eclectic range of ethnic and traditional products, designed with a contemporary touch. There is a wide variety of tasteful objects, textures, colours, and experiences, coming together cohesively and beautifully, under one roof forming the idea that is ‘options’.
This store, the brain child of Janki Patel, a designer married to an architect, has been instrumental in the evolution of furnishings and home stores in the city and changing mind set of the Amdavadi consumer. Fed up with the lack of any such quality outlet in the city, Janki thought of launching her own store, back in 2002 It was aimed at providing exclusivity and variety, for which people had to previously travel to other major cities, to do up their living spaces.
A must visit for all designers, and those with a flare for taste and style, the quintessential Indian consumers.
